December 22…Sun enters Capricorn…It’s Summer Solstice

Capricorn Time: This evokes earthy urges – sensate pleasures, the need to complete business matters. A sweet supporting Taurus Moon assists both, so a holiday break can be fully enjoyed. Now is menu planning time! Don’t let hangovers from December 20-21, go feral - stick to protocol, stay cool and refuse to indulge in old resentments. Backward glances change to looking ahead, as we build up to one of the best Full Moons of the year! December 23 to 24 begins a sense of renewal via a lighter clearer mindset, leading the way.

December 25, December 26 New Zealand…Full Moon in Cancer

Whether you yearn for the Australasian dream of beach, BBQ and boats, or for something quite opposite to that, this Full Moon is a Moon to action dreams. With the Cancer emphasis on loved ones, happy Jupiter links with Lover Venus, and a ‘Grand Trine’ of Water sign harmonies, a caring, connecting theme inspires gatherings. Since feelings are extra sensitive now, and the protective urge is strengthened, others respond best to gentle respect. Acquiring special things is satisfying now but meaningful experiences are what make December 25 to 29 really special. In fact a Neptune - Sun linkup on Dec 29 helps elevate a little dream to big status.

December 30, 2015 to January 9, 2016…Transitional Timing

On December 30 planet of love and sociability - Venus - begins its transition into the changeable sign of Sagittarius, hinting at a wild energy that seeks wider horizons, more mobility, travel. Initially this fuels a playful friendly transition to 2016. Yet Moon, Mercury and Jupiter, all align in earthy Virgo as December 31 unfolds into January 1.  This means practical goals only work with real vision behind them. A theme of 2016 comes up to meet us at New Year: the challenge of a split between the big dreams and the many small tasks required to reach them. Building bridges of practical management to reach the shore of our dreams is the New Year’s task. It is the challenges of January 6 to 7, and when a questing Venus aligns with serious Saturn on January 9, that reminds us bridge-building is essential.

January 10…New Moon in Capricorn

New Moon highlights earthy drives, industriousness, persistence, small simple pleasures, and sensuous joys. Material goals require a backward glance. Everything needs review and unpacking with Communicator Mercury in retrograde motion for the entire ‘lunation’ of New Moon, through to the highly visible Full Moon on Jan 24. Much can be achieved with a slowly, deeply approach. January 13 to 19 is particularly helpful with support and satisfying connections on offer. Read about Mercury Retro below…

JANUARY 5 to 26…Mercury in Capricorn: ‘Go Slow’ Business Cycle

In apparent backward motion through Aquarius from January 5, Mercury backs into Capricorn, on January 9. So this cycle is about Capricorn concerns - delays or confusion are likely, regarding bureaucratic processes, business agreements, relationships based on a common goal. Anything to do with property, building or renovation can be subject to misunderstanding or mistakes. On the other hand, these can be productive weeks for reviewing plans, reconsidering costs, and identifying unnecessary expenditure. This also assists greater attention to flaws in the system, whatever the ‘system’ may be, as small details are less likely to be overlooked, particularly on January 21 to 22. Action to correct problems should wait until January 26.

January 21...Sun enters Aquarius

Aquarius Time: Now a new solar cycle favors a detached approach to problem solving and shared efforts towards needed changes. Friendship gatherings, community events and social ideals take on added importance as Full Moon approaches.

January 24…Full Moon in Leo

A fiery Leo Full Moon has a great energy for collaboration. This lunar climax illuminates the need for new styles of presentation, and facilitates deeper levels of communication, linking to the communication cycle described below. Full Moon illuminates where change is needed, revealing both the obstacles and the support that exists to deal with these.

January 30 to February 1…Communication and clarity

Again the transformational energies of Pluto and Uranus hook into daily communication, the final stage of an act in three parts, due to the ‘retro’ cycle of Mercury. Stage one was December 20-21, and things slowly come to light between the second stage of January 21-22 and the final stage of January 30 to February 1. This is likely linking back to those December days - in some way. Important insights take shape with this unusual Mercury cycle. Expect now, some clarity around a much pondered issue.

February 3 to 8…Intense feelings and practical action

In these waning Moon days, two forms of completion are assisted. The first is mainly emotional, driven by passionate and private Venus and Mars energies: Time to speak from the heart.  February 3 to 4, are also excellent days for negotiation. Practical steps to complete unfinished tasks, is supported by this whole period, but February 6 to 7 could bring conflict and needs tact and restraint. Wait for Feb 10 to address touchy subjects.

February 9…New Moon in Aquarius

The theme of this New Moon is collective action, community incentives and networking. The Aquarius influence favours change to outdated systems, and rapid moves to embrace the new. While a forward-looking social agenda drives this, four planets in Earth signs suggests that only a slow and thorough style of operating, can reach this goal.

February 8 to 15…Venus hooks up with friends

Productive links between Venus, Moon, Mars and Jupiter, make February 8 to 15 special. That this includes Valentine Day, with a sensual Taurus Moon, is a nice extra! It is Water and Earth harmonies in charge, so pleasurable, practical and satisfying outcomes are likely to bless most initiatives now. Helpful results and greater credibility come from attending to the substance and quality of anything you do.

February 19… Sun enters Pisces

The new Pisces cycle synchronises with a ‘bright of the Moon’ phase, which is the week before Full Moon, pushing energy to the max. This new solar cycle supports creative pursuits, spiritual retreats, and reconnecting deeply with the people you love.

February 23 to 29…Full Moon in Virgo flows into a Leap Year

Now we meet the Pisces-Virgo polarity in its most symbolic form! Virgo Full Moon expands awareness of shared responsibilities, the necessary coordination of personal goals with the needs of our groups. Highlighted are: Teamwork, people from our past and the new groups we may aspire to join. Virgo Moon has Jupiter and the Node on its side, but opposite lies a Pisces Picnic of Sun, Neptune, and Chiron. February 25 to 27 is an ideal time to conclude negotiations, to coordinate a special event. By February 29 - the rare date that only happens every four years - Sun and Neptune conjoin, affirming that heart-felt vision must come first.

March 9…New Moon in Pisces, a total solar eclipse

The theme of this New Moon in Pisces is an emotionally driven yearning for something beyond the ‘normal’. Being an eclipse, there is the potential for these yearnings to be eclipsed by more practical concerns, yet the dreams are no less valid, and deserve attention.  March 14, 15 needs caution, and is no time to talk about something still taking shape. Criticism now, or conflict, could prematurely end a potentially good idea. The Full Moon, coming in two weeks, is also an eclipse, so March is a sensitive and fateful month.

March 15 to 18...Shifts and changes

A happy link between Jupiter, Mercury and Pluto makes March 15 to 17 a ‘big picture’ time, when ideas come fast and thick and the sky appears to be the limit. Indeed, it is a good idea to collect these ideas, and store them for later review. But…planet Saturn is challenging that rosy picture. In fact, as we head towards March Equinox, both March 15 and 18 bring tasters of the shifting unpredictable qualities of 2016, which links to three slow planets making and re-making ‘mutable mayhem’ aspects, throughout the year. Since part of this accelerates in late March, namely Jupiter in Virgo squaring off to Saturn in Sagittarius, we will explore this further in the Equinox Diary Dates...Stay tuned!
